Brownie Girl Scouts from Service Unit 175 in Dauphin County attended a “Clowning Around with Brownies” Service Unit event. The girls received a visit from two clowns from Zembo Shrine who taught them about the different styles of clowns and their origins. By the end of the day, girls had created their own clown hats, helped each other do their clown makeup, and learned to tie a simple balloon animal to earn their Clowning with Brownies badges.

These Brownies weren’t the only Girl Scouts busy during the month of February – read on for more Mission Moments from girls in Adams, Dauphin, and Susquehanna counties!

Daisies and Brownies from Dauphin County stay busy with food bank project, cookie rally, and pen pal activity.

Daisy and Brownie Girl Scouts from Troop 10840 in Dauphin County participated in a variety of activities this past month.

The troop partnered with the Susquehanna Arts Museum to collect donations to provide 15 birthday boxes to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. Through the project the girls learned about wants versus needs and why someone might need to visit a food pantry.

The first-year troop also kicked off their first Cookie Season by attending a cookie rally in Harrisburg. The girls taste tested cookies, made swaps and crafts, met older Girl Scouts, and learned how to run a cookie booth.

And in the Girl Scout spirit of making new friends, the troop became pen pals with Girl Scout Troop 137 in Rhode Island. Both troops will write letters and draw pictures to each other, and the PA Daisies and Brownies sent their first postcards highlighting Pennsylvania symbols and locations.

Daisies from Adams County explore the world of chess and entrepreneurship and join Brownies for fire department tour.

Daisy Girl Scouts from Troop 80778 in Adams County explored many interests this past month and teamed up with Brownie Girl Scouts from Troop 80288 for an off-site learning experience.

Daisy Charlotte joined a fellow Girl Scout to participate in GSHPA Program Partner Girl Boss Chess’ introduction to chess basics on Feb. 12.

The Daisy troop came together to work on their Daisy Toy Business Badge where each girl created their own perfect toy and then partnered up with another Girl Scout to combine ideas and create a toy together.

The Daises also joined forces with Brownies to visit the Gettysburg Fire Department to learn about fire safety, fire devices, and the gear firefighters use.

Susquehanna County Girl Scouts and volunteers get outdoors for a winter camping weekend.

Girl Scouts and volunteers from Service Units 511 and 513 in Susquehanna County braved the cold for a winter camping weekend at Camp Archbald. The group completed Valentine’s Day-inspired crafts like ice hearts and cards and enjoyed the surrounding nature of the camp.
