Lebanon County Girl Scouts celebrate GSHPA Spirit Week; host a Teddy Bear Tea Party

Girl Scouts from Troop 71062 in Lebanon County completed their Girl Scout Way badges by journaling each day using the GSHPA Spirit Week challenges. At their meetings during Girl Scout Week, they played Girl Scout trivia using a collection of items provided by the leader, viewing pictures and scrapbooks of a leader’s time as a girl in Girl Scouts, and trying on vintage uniforms.

The troop also hosted a Teddy Bear Tea Party at a local church to celebrate Girl Scouts’ 111th birthday. Daisy Girl Scouts from troops 70073, 70430, 70839, 71062, 71295, and 71510 attended.

These Girl Scouts weren’t the only ones busy during the month of March – read on for more Mission Moments from girls in Carbon, Centre, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Perry, and Schuylkill counties!

Cumberland County troop makes a trip to Savannah, Ga.

Girl Scouts from Troop 10265 in Cumberland County traveled to Savannah, Ga. to visit the birthplace of Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of Girl Scouts. The girls also toured Andrew Low’s home where the first Girl Scout meeting was held in the carriage house and they met and supported a local Savannah troop. The trip was entirely funded by the troop’s cookie sales!

Cookie Season continues with more rallies in Dauphin County.

Girl Scouts from Service Unit 194 in Dauphin County hosted a Go Bright Ahead Cookie Rally where they had cookie tastings, cookie booth practice, cookie swaps, and more. The stations were led by the Service Unit’s Cadettes who taught the younger Girl Scouts about different aspects of Cookie Season.

Penn State University sorority welcomes Brownies into their sisterhood.

Brownie Girl Scouts from Troop 40085 in Centre County joined Penn State University’s Kappa Delta sorority for a lesson on building confidence and learning the power of friendship and sisterhood. The college students showed the girls how to write value statements which were then placed into stuffed animals the girls made. Kappa Delta members concluded the meeting by inviting the girls to join their sisterhood through a friendship circle.

Daisies receive a visit from a special guest speaker and host their first cookie booth.

Daisy Girl Scouts from Troop 10840 in Dauphin County received a visit from Mrs. DiPietro, a local teacher at St. Stephen’s Episcopal School. As part of the troop’s Respect Authority Petal lesson, DiPietro spoke on the importance of following school rules and how doing so keeps us safe and happy. They put the lesson into action through a game of Red Light, Green Light, and DiPietro also read, “The World Needs More Purple People!” to the group.

The Daisies also hosted their first cookie booth during National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend on March 4 at Abrams & Weakley General Store for Animals. The girls braved the cold and windy weather to connect with local customers and their pets.

Local police support Girl Scouts in Lancaster County.

Girl Scouts from Troop 70724 in Lancaster County received support from two local Ephrata Borough police officers who stopped by their cookie booth to purchase cookies. The girls helped the officers make their cookie selections and shared their favorite cookie flavors.

Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors celebrate Girl Scout Sunday.

Daisy, Brownie, and Junior Girl Scouts from Troop 32840 in Schuylkill County celebrated Girl Scout Sunday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Pine Grove. The girls helped the church perform service tasks and sang songs for the congregation.

Lebanon County Service Unit celebrates World Thinking Day.

Girl Scouts from Service Unit 701 in Lebanon County came together to celebrate World Thinking Day on Feb. 18. They represented 13 countries and the five Girl Scout World Centers. The group sang songs, tried new foods and drinks, shared swaps, and learned new things about the different countries.

Longtime Girl Scout member is presented with cookie donation at nursing home.

Cadette Girl Scout Leeta S. and troop leaders Diana Vituszynski and Deanna Zombro from Troop 71062 in Lebanon County visited Ann Marie Wike at Cedar Haven nursing home during Girl Scout Week. Wike has been a Girl Scout member for over 66 years and served as cookie manager for the Lebanon area for many years. The troop selected the nursing home as its cookie donation site for the year and presented Wike with the donation.

Centre County Girl Scouts earn Bronze Award.

Girl Scouts Ayla and Lily from Troop 40060 in Centre County earned their Bronze Award by hosting a pajama drive.

Perry County Service Unit performs Pledge of Allegiance for ABC27 broadcast.

Girl Scouts from Service Unit 165 in Perry County came together for World Thinking Day and performed the Pledge of Allegiance for a recording. The recording was aired on ABC27’s March 8 broadcast and can be found on ABC27’s website.

Carbon County Girl Scouts supply birthday joy to local food pantry.

Girl Scouts from Troop 30903 in Carbon County collected items to make a total of 14 birthday bags. Each bag includes a cake pan, cake mix, icing, can of soda, candles, plates, napkins, card, and other birthday items. The bags will be donated to the local food pantry for individuals in need.
